About uclacommons

uclacommons was built to solve a specific problem: accurate clothing removal at production scale. We focus entirely on that — no feature sprawl, no distractions.

Our Mission

The goal is simple — give photographers, designers, and e-commerce teams a cloth removal tool accurate enough to use in professional client workflows, without hours of manual editing.

We measure accuracy on every model release against 10,000 test garments. If a new version scores below 98%, it doesn't ship.

Where We Started

uclacommons started in 2022 when our founders — a computer vision engineer and a commercial photographer — got tired of existing tools mishandling fabric edges on high-stakes product shoots.

The first internal prototype processed 5,000 images in a weekend. Accuracy was 91%. Three years and four major model revisions later, that number sits at 98.4%.

Our Technology

The detection model uses semantic segmentation combined with a custom edge refinement layer trained specifically on garment boundaries — not generic object outlines.

Our Core Values

Privacy first: uploaded images deleted within 60 minutes. Accuracy over speed: we won't release a faster model that produces worse edges. Transparent pricing: no surprise charges.

These aren't aspirational statements — they're commitments written into our product roadmap and enforced in every release cycle.

Who Uses uclacommons

Freelance retouchers handling 50-image shoots. E-commerce agencies processing 3,000 SKUs monthly. Fashion brands preparing catalog assets. If fabric edges matter in your work, this tool is for you.

Our Team

The uclacommons team is 14 people across engineering, product, and support. Everyone on the team has either a background in image processing or direct experience in professional photography production.

That combination matters. The engineers understand what photographers actually need — and the photographers know when an algorithm is cutting corners on edges.

Accuracy is tested on real shoots, not synthetic datasets alone. That's why uclacommons handles edge cases that other tools miss.

Global Reach

uclacommons serves users in 40+ countries. Over 2 million images processed since launch. The platform supports English, with additional language interfaces rolling out through 2026.
